Aluminum oxide and nitric acid are used in different industrial and commercial applications. Both the chemicals have their own unique properties.

The IR spectrum of nitric acid shows that it is an oxidizing agent. It is also very corrosive. Therefore, it is very important to take proper care of the quality and manufacturing process of the chemical.

When aluminum is exposed to nitric acid, it forms an insoluble layer of aluminum oxide. This layer provides a protective barrier to prevent further oxidation. However, nitric acid is a strong oxidizing agent, so it may damage aluminum.

In addition to nitric acid, there are other common oxidizing agents. Sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, and hydrofluoric acid are among them. These acids react with bases to produce salts. They are less corrosive to metals than other acidic compounds.

Another common oxidizing agent is ferric sulfate. It has a +3 oxidation state. It has a yellow color. During the reaction, traces of copper(II) cations and a catalyst are necessary to speed up the process.

Nitric acid is a corrosive mineral acid. It contains elemental hydrogen and nitrogen. It is used to produce aqua regia and dyes. It is a powerful oxidizing agent, and it can act as an autocatalytic oxidizer. It is not compatible with metallic aluminium.

In addition to its inherent oxidizing ability, nitric acid can speed up the anodic film stripping process. It has a tendency to form an oxide layer on the metal surface, and it can be used to improve the appearance of the finished product.
